Queer Climb

We often hear of safe spaces being created for the LGBTQIA+ community, but what does it mean to truly embody those words? Queer Climb, a currently monthly event put on by climbing centre Yonder in Walthamstow, London has created something that is unique. Many people in the LGBTQIA+ community struggle to find their place in the outdoors or the sport based world and the climbing industry can often be seen as a very macho. However, the sense of community that has been created through this event for the people that use it stretches far wider than the event itself – creating friendships where understanding and support are paramount.
